Upcoming Training and Seminars

Presenting Our 2012 Training Program, 5 nights of technical training,

$$$$$ LEARN TO EARN $$$$$

February 6, 2012 – Electronic Stability Control and Hybrid Vehicles

When a technician completes this module they will be able to explain interaction of ABS, Electronic Steering, and stability control. They will be able to explain interaction of Generative Braking, Base brakes, and ABS. They will be able to disarm “computer safety check” when replacing pads, explain the function of ESC sensors, explain safety requirements and precautions when servicing Hybrid systems. They will also be able to describe common system faults and develop diagnostic strategies for servicing modern vehicles

March 12, 2012 – Air Conditioning Tips & Techniques

The goals of this seminar are to help the technician gain a better understanding of A/C systems, establish new diagnostic procedures, and develop a process to insure system integrity.  Causes for AC system failure vary by system and component design and these failures have been compounded by newer refrigerants and lubricating oils.  Over the last couple of years we have seen an increase in AC system failures after the initial repair has been made.  There are numerous reasons for comeback failures such as debris left in the system, failed components that were not found on the initial repair, contaminated refrigerants, improper charge levels and failure to add the proper type or amount of oil to the system.  This program will provide the necessary background information, specifications and repair steps to perform repairs with confidence.

April 12, 2012 Engine Management & Electronically Controlled Transmissions

There are many transmission symptoms which might be caused by engine control faults. The age old question has been: “Is it the engine or the transmission?”  Many drivability technicians have the diagnostic equipment and the skills necessary to make this determination and necessary repairs.  In this class you will learn to determine if the engine or the transmission is causing the symptom you are experiencing.  Popular electronic inputs and outputs will also be covered.

Learn to make the most of your diagnostic time and to avoid diagnostic pitfalls presented by electronically controlled transmissions.  Learn strategies and repairs that can be made without internal transmission disassembly. Learn common failure items for popular transmissions which must be diagnosed before the unit is overhauled or replaced.

October 22, 2012 – Electronic Throttle Control Diagnosis, Repair, and Relearn

Have you ever performed a battery replacement and then found the vehicle wouldn’t idle?  Or perhaps a customer has a concern of a vehicle that the Reduced Power message is intermittently illuminated on.  Most vehicles we see today have Electronic Throttle Control or “Drive by Wire.” This class will go beyond theory to demonstrate diagnosis, repair, and follow-up procedures on the systems most likely to experience failures.

Learn critical cleaning and relearn techniques on specific manufacturers which can save you time and trouble in the bay. Understand the value and shortcomings of the scan data PIDs related to these systems. Get ready to diagnose and service these important systems.

November 19, 2012 – Electrical Diagnosis and Repair of Anti-Lock Brake Sensors and Controls

The purpose of this class is to help the technician better understand the operation of Anti-lock Brake Systems and to more efficiently and accurately diagnose ABS faults.  The class will cover the operation of various ABS systems, sensors, and modules and how they are networked.  Basic open circuit faults may not be a challenge to diagnose, but those no code false activation situations can be frustrating.  We will assist the technician to develop a diagnostic procedure designed to help them be successful immediately.

Common failures, diagnosis, and repair techniques will be demonstrated throughout the class with multiple case studies of real world failures.
